Mini Review & Swatches: Limited Edition MAC X Nasty Gal Lipsticks

Happy New Year Everybody! I hope you all had a total blast on New Year’s Eve!

To kickstart my year, I want to share with you today a mini review and swatches of the Limited Edition MAC Lipstick Collection in Collaboration with the vintage clothing icon, “Nasty Gal”, Sophia Amoruso.

This collection came out originally with 3 lipsticks and 1 Nail Lacquer. I am absolutely in love with these colors, which is why when they came out, there was no question about getting them. I believe these are already sold out online from maccosmetics.com, but I am not sure in stores in the States.

However, in the Philippines I think we are still currently on the Prabal Gurung collection and I’m not sure if we’re even included in the countries that will launch this collection.

The names of the lipsticks are absolutely kickass. which are: Stunner, Runner,  & Gunner and I have 2 to share with you today, because I didn’t get the last one just because I have recently bought myself a few other deep purple lipsticks from colourpop. Also, it seemed a hell of a lot similar to Punk Couture and Smoked Purple from MAC (which I own), only a little bit more blue-toned, I personally don’t think the dark lipstick lover in me isn’t going to wear that a lot… so, that’s not something I want to waste.

Anyway, moving on!

The first one I have here is called Stunner, on the website it is described as a Clean Red. It has a hint of pink in it when you compare it side by side to a more full blown red like Russian Red. The application was smooth and even at one pass and while this is a Matte finish, I find that this wasn’t drying on the lips compared to the likes of All Fired Up and Russian Red (sometimes). Wear was okay, for like 5-6 hours. It does leave a stain on the lips. A good dupe for this color is Ruby Woo which is available from the regular line.

The next one is called Runner, on the website it is described as a burgundy. I wore this last night as part of my New Year’s Eve Makeup with a lipliner underneath, but it looked more purply than a burgundy. On this swatch here, it is definitely a rich, medium-dark burgundy color. I’d say a good dupe for this is MAC Sin which is available from the regular line, as well. Application for Runner was creamy, but it did skip, which made it hard to get even on the lips, but I found that when used with a lipliner underneath, it does glide on easier and more opaque. Also, this one is a little bit drying on the lips which was pretty noticeable in comparison to Stunner. The wear was pretty good, at least the entire day and it does leave a stain on the lips.

That’s it for my mini review! Please enjoy the swatches below and I hope that you all have a wonderful 2015 ahead!

XO,

Gia
